授業の目的・方法
/Course Objectives and method
The theme of this course is a social constructionist approach to global and local issues in society. The course will provide various learning activities through which you will improve your English listening skills, English speaking skills, English reading skills, English vocabulary. There will be four areas of focus:
1. Comprehensive understanding of various glocal issues in Japan
2. Basic understanding of social constructionism
3. Developing critical thinking skills
4. Improving English listening, speaking, and reading skills
* Students will write an essay (2,000 words or more) in English on any topics related to the glocal issues discussed in the course.
* All lessons will be provided remotely via Zoom Meetings.

1. Improve the English reading and listening skills
2. Increase English vocabulary to improve the overall English skills

成績評価の方法
/Grading
In order to get a credit for this course you need to meet the following criteria:
* Complete all the weekly lessons by the weekly deadlines.
* Participate in class discussions.
* Attend class each week. You must not be absent more than 4 classes during the course.
* Review and prepare for the weekly lessons.

Participation 30%
Assignments 20%
Essay 50%

/Grading Criteria
Letter Grade & Percentage Description
S (秀) 90-100 Excellent: Superior performance, showing comprehensive understanding of subject matter.
A (優) 80-89 Good: Clearly above average performance with knowledge of subject matter generally complete. Required proficiency to advance to next level.
B (良) 70-79 Approaching: satisfactory performance.
C (可) 60-69 Minimal: Limited performance, insufficient preparation to advance to the next level.
