授業の目的・方法
/Course Objectives and method
This course aims to develop students' reading skills and their ability to comprehend and respond to a variety of texts. Numerous texts will be analysed for content and meaning, and they will also provide a springboard for vocabulary building. In addition, graded readers will be used to expand students’ English reading horizons and summarizing capabilities.

To enhance your understanding and appreciation of different types of texts in English; to develop your reading skills; to expand your English vocabulary and grammar; to increase your reading fluency; to heighten your critical thinking; to promote your English reading enjoyment.
授業内容
/Course contents
The main activity in the weekly classes will be to read and analyse a range of texts for their content, structure and meaning. In addition to verbal checking of understanding from the instructor, there will be various comprehension exercises, strategies for developing reading skills, vocabulary-building activities, summaries of reading passages, and book reading reports.

/Preparation and review class
Students should review the contents of each lesson in their own time. This course also requires some reading to be done outside of lesson times.

/Grading
Evaluation will be based on participation (20%), reading reports (40%), and tests (40%).

/Grading Criteria
You are expected to attend classes on a regular basis and to actively participate in them. Reading reports should be handed in on time, and you should sit for the required tests.
