授業の目的・方法
/Course Objectives and method
This course offers extensive practice in using English as a means of communication with the paramount objective of enhancing your ability to think and express yourself confidently in the English language. With this as our aim, we will employ an assortment of methods in a variety of settings, across a range of subjects.

/Course Goals
The main goals of this course are to: foster your ability and desire to interact with other students in the medium of the English language; to expand your English vocabulary; to broaden your powers of verbal expression; and to develop your discussion, presentation and summarizing skills.
授業内容
/Course contents
The weekly classes will consist of various speaking, listening, reading and writing exercises with an emphasis on building effective communication and argumentation skills. Learning techniques will include individual, pair and group work, and presentations.

/Preparation and review class
Active preparation for each lesson is strongly advised. Preparation will generally involve some sort of reading and written preparation (according to specific instructions given by the teacher). In addition, you should review in your own time the most important material covered in class.

This is no set text for this course. The teacher will supply assorted materials.

/Grading
Evaluation will be based on participation (30%), speaking tests (30%), presentations (20%), and written assignments (20%).

The highest grades in this course will be awarded to the students who, in addition to very good aptitude, display a constant willingness to try their best and to improve.
