ˇˇˇˇI used to be an international student. It was a coincidence that I had
majored in Japanese in my undergraduate education in China. This coincidence
led me to come to Japan for further education and to earn a teaching position.
I would never have expected that language teaching would become my livelihood.
Up to now, there were moments when I had gone through hard times; however,
I now feel myself lucky because not only could I pursue higher education
but also by having had contact with gentle people from different worlds
and cultures, I can have a broader perspective of life and of huma beings.I
strongly encourage you to become aware of cultural differences, to bridge
these differences with your own, and finally assimilate them. I have not
doubt this will be an enjoyable experience. Otaru University of Commerce
is relatively small in size; however, I assure you that you will not be
disappointed coming here. Only concern is the really heavy snow in winter,
but I advise you to it as a gift from nature to accompany your study at
OUC.

ˇˇHaving celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2011, OUC is a national
university with a longstanding tradition. Its campus is located on top
of a hill with a beautiful view of Otaru bay and is only 40 minutes away
from Sapporo, JapanˇŻs fifth largest city. The cozy campus makes it easy
to build friendships with Japanese students and your fellow
exchange students. For a Japanese university, OUC also has a relatively
large foreign faculty staff including professors from Great Britain, Iceland,
the Netherlands, Rumania, South Korea, China, and the United States. Together
with our Japanese colleagues, we can provide you with unique insights into
Japanese and foreign matters. You will find that your time at OUC will
help you become a truly global (business) person!
