| 授業の目的・方法 /Course Objectives and method |
Fieldwork is the process of observing research subjects—particularly people in the social sciences—and collecting data in real-world settings. The objective of this course is to develop students’ ability to design and conduct effective fieldwork. Through this course, students will gain hands-on experience in fieldwork, enhance their teamwork and communication skills, and learn how to apply their findings to real-world issues. | ||
| 達成目標 /Course Goals |
This course aims to help students identify, analyze, and develop solutions for regional issues through fieldwork. Throughout the term, students will engage in the following activities: • Designing innovative and engaging tour plans for inbound tourism in Otaru. • Creating effective promotional materials (e.g., flyers, video clips) tailored to potential tourists. • Conducting fieldwork by interacting with tourists and gathering market feedback. • Analyzing collected data and refining tour plans based on key insights. • Strengthening presentation skills through final proposal presentations and peer evaluations. |

| 履修上の注意事項 /Remarks |
Glocal Fieldwork will be conducted during the summer quarter. Students are required to participate in both classroom-based sessions and intensive fieldwork activities. • Classroom sessions: Held during the 4th and 5th periods on Mondays (3–4 sessions in June and July), these sessions will cover fundamental concepts, group discussions, and project planning. • Fieldwork: Students will engage in intensive fieldwork activities, applying their learning in real-world settings. Active participation in both components is essential for successful completion of the course. Here is the designated schedule, please make sure your availability for taking this course. * General meetings June 15 –First session at Room 274AL June 29 –Progress report at Room 274AL & Group works July 13 –Progress report at Room 274AL & submission of the interim outcome * Group Work (for regular weeks without General Meetings) Each group determines its activities. Tasks should primarily be done on Monday afternoons. Dedicate at least 3 hours per week to group work. Submit a brief report outlining activities, including a photo of the attending members. * Intensive Sessions (July 17-20) July 17 (afternoon): Kyusyu Univ. students joining this class July 18-19: Group works July 20 (morning): Final In addition, all students participating in the fieldwork must have accident insurance that covers injuries. Please check if you are already enrolled. If not, make sure to get insured before the fieldwork begins. If you are not covered and an accident happens during the fieldwork, you will be fully responsible for any costs or consequences. |
