授業の目的・方法
/Course Objectives and method
This course is the second half of the Business Economics sequence in the “Glocal” education program at Otaru University of Commerce (OUC). It is open to both YOUC international students and OUC degree students who wish to study Business Economics in English.

The aim of the course is to understand the competitive strategies of business enterprises based on the traditional microeconomic theory.

Students are expected to have completed Business Economics I (BE1) or have equivalent background knowledge, including demand elasticity, marginal revenue, and marginal cost, before the course begins.

By the end of this course, students will be able to:
* Understand key terms used in business economics (e.g., demand, cost, profit).
* Describe how firms make basic decisions such as pricing and output choice in different market settings.
* Interpret real-world business situations using the concepts covered in class.

Topics Covered in This Course (subject to change)
1. Review of key concepts from Business Economics I (BE1): demand, elasticity, marginal analysis, and profit maximization
2. Market structures: perfect competition, monopoly, and oligopoly
3. Monopoly behavior: pricing and output decisions
4. Basics of oligopoly: how competition changes when only a few firms operate in the market
5. Price discrimination: basic types and intuition
6. Product differentiation

/Preparation and review class
Students are required to complete several assignments during the semester and should also plan sufficient time for self-study in preparation for the final exam.

Lecture slides will be posted on Manaba before each class. Additional reading materials (if any) will be announced during the semester.
