授業の目的・方法
/Course Objectives and method
This course aims to develop English reading, writing and speaking skills using materials related to language, communication and the world of work.
達成目標
/Course Goals
By the end of this course students should be able to:
(i) Understand the main issues learned through class materials.
(ii) Analyse and explain information to classmates in English.
(iii) Carry out a research project and present their findings to the class.
授業内容
/Course contents
• Each lesson uses a handout prepared by the teacher, which contains a reading text, comprehension activities and discussions to further understand the text. There are regular quizzes on vocabulary from the previous lesson.
• In teams, students give a presentation on an issue they have researched.
• Students will write 5 essays on topics related to materials covered in class.
• There is a final reading and writing test related to topics covered during the course.

/Teaching materials
The teacher will prepare weekly handouts with reading passages, discussion activities and vocabulary support. Handouts will be uploaded to Manaba before each class.

/Grading Criteria
Presentations are graded as follows and feedback given to students in class:
• English fluency & accuracy
• Organisation of the content (how coherent and coherence)
• Presentation skills - persuasiveness and use of visual aids.

Written reports are graded as follows and returned to students in class:
• English fluency and accuracy
• Persuasiveness of the argument
• How well the essay conforms to academic writing conventions.
