授業の目的・方法
/Course Objectives and method
The objective of this course is to improve presentation and reading skills in English, by reading an academic textbook. Students will try to take turns in explaining several pages by giving oral presentations and answer questions from classmates. There will be vocabulary and content quizzes online every week. At the end of the course, students will write a squib or a term paper related to the content of the course and give class presentations on it.

/Course Goals
Students will familiarize themselves with the use of an academic textbook written in English, which will prepare them for TOEFL-type  reading questions. They will feel more comfortable with giving oral presentations in English.

Students will take turns in presenting a summary of each chapter.
For the last two weeks, students will orally present the content of the term paper.

Since the book is a bit pricy, there is no need to purchase the textbook. A copy of the book will be available to check out from the Center for Language Studies to photocopy the pages.

60% of grading will be based on class activities including oral presentations and quiz results. 40% depends on termpapers.

/Remarks
