| 授業の目的・方法 ／Course Objectives and method |
Students can choose between physical and virtual attendance for this course. The course offers a comparative study of Japanese and English linguistics. The main focus is on semantics theory. We will examine negative/positive polarity items, indexicals, tense, context change, quantifiers, and others. |

Students will be able to analyze the negative expressions, indexicals, tense, quantifiers and others in Japanese, English and possibly other languages. |

Class activity (presentation, quiz results, (active) participation): 60% Term paper or a squib: 40% Class activity includes: final presentation participation in class discussion, possibly online quizzes The term paper will be evaluated based on: originality, uniqueness and novelty coherence logical development |
