授業の目的・方法
/Course Objectives and method
This course aims to improve students' fundamental reading skills with particular attention on vocabulary development, understanding denotation and connotation, making inferences and judgments, reading comprehension, fluency and interpretation.
Each week, students will be assigned short reading materials on a variety of topics and a short video to be watched before class. In class, we will work on increasing reading fluency, expanding vocabulary and improving understanding of challenging texts.

Grading will reflect the degree of achievement of goals a-c as follows:
master appropriate vocabulary and grammar
show appropriate reading speed and understanding

69-60: meets expectations with support
59-0: performs below expectations
