授業の目的・方法
/Course Objectives and method
The main objective of this course is to develop an understanding of various topics through: vocabulary and grammar practice, reading short texts, reading comprehension questions, and small group discussions. The course will be taught online in real-time Zoom lessons, and students will have a lecture, practice of skills, small group work, and performance demonstrations. Active learning and scaffolding of reading and language skills will be the main methods.

/Course Goals
Topics related to daily life will be covered, including: student life, shopping, communication with friends and family (SNS), careers and gender, and dreams and the mind. Five textbook units will be covered. The lecture activities will include textbook pages and material, individual and group tasks, homework and performance. To become able to understand writing styles, expressive patterns and differences between implicit and explicit sentences. This will be achieved by studying texts of various lengths. By using textbook materials and related worksheets, you will become able to develop reading comprehension skills. Each textbook unit will be covered over two lessons, and a midterm and final exam will be administered during the semester.

/Preparation and
review lesson
Students will prepare for midterm and final exams based on textbook and other tasks. There will be short reviews each lesson, and homework will be the main content for review and performance activities.
