授業の目的・方法
/Course Objectives and method
This course is an intermediate reading class. The objective is to increase the students’ ability to read and understand written materials in the English language. A lot of written material is delivered in short but dense written style, so this course will focus on written examples that are short and dense. This will help prepare students to pass the Eiken level pre-1 test as well as prepare them to read abstracts, newspaper articles, and e-mail correspondence.
達成目標
/Course Goals
The course goal is for students to reach a reading level where they will be able to pass Eiken level pre-1 tests. The students should develop an expanded vocabulary at the 10,000-word level. Students will be able to understand how short readings are organized so that they can improve their ability to comprehend the information quickly. The course will also focus on complex sentence structures: sentences with multiple dependent and independent clauses, relative pronouns, and other language features.
