授業の目的・方法
/Course Objectives and method
In this course, students will participate in topic-based conversations in pairs and groups for personalized and learner-centered interaction.  There will also be special emphasis on observing how people actually use English and developing “conversation management” strategies. Each class (weeks 2-13) begins with a three-minute oral presentation (peer to peer) of  student writing. This will be either a topic chosen by the teacher, or a topic selected from the textbook Read to Write Compositions.

/Course Goals
i) practice the vocabulary, grammar, and functions encountered most often in real life.
(ii) develop the conversation strategies needed for effective conversations, such as how to ask for a favor politely or how show you understand someone's feelings.
(iii) develop speaking fluency through interactive, personalized activities on high-interest topics.
(iv) develop confidence in clear and effective self-expression.
(v) develop fluency and confidence in writing through weekly journal and essay writing practice.
