授業の目的・方法
/Course Objectives and method
Using estabished theoretical frameworks, this course investigates national cultural values and how those values manifest themselves in everyday interaction. The course has two aims:
(i) To consider national identity and how it affects intercultural communication.
(ii) To develop students' English fluency - especially presentation,  discussion and writing skills.

/Course Goals
- Weekly discussions on theoretical and practical aspects of comparative culture to understand cultural theory and develop speaking and listening skills.
- Weekly reading assignments to prepare for class.
- Three writing assignments to examine theoretical and practical aspects of comparative culture to develop English academic writing skills.
- Groups of students research one cultural aspect of a country. Each group gives a class presentation on its research and writes a report to be handed in at the end of the course.

Weeks 1~6: Lecture based on cultural theory; discussions in small groups.
Weeks 7~14: Student presentations; discussions in small groups.
