1. 授業目的・方法
目的：大学院初級レベルでのミクロ経済学の理解
どの社会においても資源は稀少です。その資源が，経済活動の中でいかに配分されるか。また，資源の受け取る対価（要素所得）はどのように分配されるか。ミクロ経済学は，これらの資源配分と所得分配の問題にたいする解答を，主に市場機構の働きによって与えます。この科目では，市場機構の働きを中心に，不完全競争や情報の非対称性など市場の機能を阻害する要因についても検討します。

２回の定期試験によって評価を行います。
5. 履修上の注意事項
中級レベルのミクロ経済学を修得していること。用いる数学については，初歩の集合論，線形数学，多変数関数，ラグランジュ法などを前提とするが，必要に応じて講義します。

1. Course objectives and methods
Objectives: This is a first-year graduate microeconomics course. An emphasis is placed on understanding of market mechanism, which allocates scarce resources and distributes income among owners of productive factors in a society. The mechanism works well to achieve an efficient allocation in some situations. However, there are situations where efficiency is interfered by elements such as imperfect competition, incomplete information and others. This is why policy makers need to identify causes to resolve the market failure.

3. Market equilibrium: short-run, long-run, and welfare analysis
4. General equilibrium: existence, uniqueness, stability, and comparative statics
5. Dynamic general equilibrium: overlapping-generations and optimal growth models
6. Uncertainty and information: von Neumann-Morgenstern utility functions, auctions, adverse selection, and the principal-agent problem
7. Introductory game theory: Nash equilibria and sequential rationality

4. Grading policy
Scores in the mid-term and final exams determine a course grade for each student.
5. Remarks
Prerequisites include good understanding of intermediate microeconomics. In addition, basic mathematics such as elementary set theory, linear algebra, calculus will be employed during the course.
